Salary Range: $55-65k
The Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer and primarily manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the organization’s accounting, payroll and benefits administration functions. The ideal candidate for Controller will demonstrate a desire to serve colleagues within and outside the organization through collection, preparation, analysis and communication of financial information relevant to operations and an ability to quickly and effectively adapt to changes in the environments in which Homes of Hope operates.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Assisting the CFO with design, implementation, enforcement and continuous evaluation of effective accounting policies and procedures and internal controls;
•Ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions in theGeneral Ledger and sub-ledgers;
•Preparation and/or review of appropriate G/L account reconciliations;
•Design and maintenance of an orderly and secure system for filing, storage and, as appropriate, destruction of accounting and financial data and records;
•Driving the monthly financial statement close process;
•Preparation and analysis of financial statements and other financial reports, as needed, to provide clear and effective communication of results to management to assist with strategic decision-making;
•Remaining knowledgeable and assisting in implementation of current and upcoming accounting principles and guidelines tha tcould impact the organization;
•Ensuring compliance with federal, state and local government reporting requirements, audits and applicable tax filings;
•Assisting the CFO in preparation and roll-out of the organization’s annual operating budget;
•Serving as the primary liaison between the organization and external parties for payroll, benefits & employee tax matters;
•Assisting the CFO in coordination and administration of organization’s insurance needs;
•Serving as the primary back-up to the CFO, if required, to ensure continuity of operations; and
•Other duties, as appropriate and assigned.
Minimum requirements and qualifications:
•A passion for the vision and mission of Homes of Hope
•Integrity, accountability and stewardship of resources, as demonstrated through job performance
•Positive attitude and curiosity to learn and improve upon existing processes and procedures
•3-5 years’ financial experience in non-profit, real estate development, and/or related field
•Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work effectively in team and individual settings
•Ability to analyze, interpret and communicate (verbally and written)complex financial data and transactions in a manner easily understood by colleagues
•QuickBooks Online certification (or willingness to obtain), proficiency in Microsoft Office, and adaptability to new technologies
•Detail-oriented with ability to solve problems effectively and efficiently
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance
•Controllership experience in construction and/or real estate development fields
•Experience with and knowledge of Single Audit requirements for expenditures of federal awards

Working Conditions: Minimum 36 hours per week with 92% in office environments, 3% offsite for work-related appointments and 5% ability to work remotely.
