Resurging Forward! Affordable Housing by Volunteers.
On June 9th Homes of Hope launched an innovative partnership with Resurgent Capital Services which will result in the construction of two single family homes on Gower Street in West Greenville. Each Thursday, Friday, & Saturday, Resurgent employees have graciously donated their time and efforts while working alongside the planning and leadership of Quinn Satterfield Builders, as well as our Men’s Development team. Resurgent’s generous financial contribution has also covered part of the materials to build the two homes.
Only in our third week with these volunteers, we have already welcomed over 140 different Resurgent employees. They’ve done everything from framing to insulation and we are amazed at the speed. As one bicyclist in the neighborhood joyfully put it, “they are throwing these houses up real fast!” We agree!
Check out the progress below:
Day 1 & the first house is framed!
Week 2- impressive progress! (Note: these are volunteers!)Sheet rock delivery on Day 7
The Gower Street homes will be 1028 square feet. The homes will be constructed simultaneously with a result of one home for rent at $595/month, and one for sale at $99,900. Combining rental and homeownership opportunities will serve to diversify and strengthen the West Greenville community which has been a special emphasis area for Homes of Hope.
Working this hard makes us hungry! We can’t forget to thank our amazing donors for providing lunches for our volunteers! Hungry, too? Grab some grub & help us thank Chick-Fil-A, Atlanta Bread Company, Spero’s Original Pete’s & OJ’s Diner for all they do for the community. Thanks also to East North Street Church for providing lunch as well!
