Hope for Senior Adults: Olive Branch Cottages
Often there is a misconception that people in “affordable housing” don’t want anything for themselves. It’s assumed that they’re lazy, they don’t want to work, or they just want a hand out. At Homes of Hope we cringe at this perception for we know the families we serve to be hardworking, hopeful, and deserving of an opportunity. We also know that the financial circumstances many face each day can be crippling, especially for those on fixed income due to a disability, social security wages, or retirement. A forgotten population in need of affordable housing are our community’s senior adults. We want the prime years of our elder generation to be years of joy, not struggle. That’s why we’re proud to announce the completion of our Olive Branch Cottages, new homes for Senior Adults.
The Olive Branch Cottages were built in partnership with Elder Source Senior Ministries. For over three decades Elder Source has been working with senior care facilities to meet the spiritual needs of seniors by giving them a purpose for today and a hope for tomorrow. A partnership over three years in the making, the Olive Branch homes are four cottage style homes that rent for $495/month to lower-income seniors. Elder Source ministries will partner with these tenants to provide Christian services and to ensure that these residents do not fall between the cracks as they embark on the next stage of life.
Located off of Cedar Lane Road in the Sans Souci neighborhood of Greenville, Phase One of the Olive Branch Cottages are half way to full occupancy. Each cottage is energy efficient, has two bedrooms, kitchen, bath, living room, laundry hookup, and a covered front porch.
Seniors over the age of 62 should inquire at Homes of Hope if interested in these homes. 864.269.4663
