From Squalor to Safety: Affordable Housing Rehab Repairs

Perhaps a lesser-known element of our dedication to safe and affordable housing is our Owner  Occupied Repair (OOR) program. Grants enable us to provide up to $20,000 in emergency repairs to extremely low-income homeowners. These repairs come at no cost to the family as long as they, or their immediate family, remain owners of the home for twenty years. For familie...

They Pedaled, they Perspired, they Painted!

Greenville had one of its hottest days of the season this last Tuesday but that didn’t phase our 33 volunteers from the cross-country cycling trip, Bike & Build. With enthusiasm & energy, they joined us for a 12-house painting project in West Greenville. It mattered little that they had previously rode their bikes from Newberry, 70 miles away, the day before....

Check out our Judson Bungalows!

Our newly completed Judson Bungalows are located on Anderson Road right across the street from our main office. It was exciting to watch them be constructed and now that they are completed, those who visit us have been asking “Are those Homes of Hope houses?” and we are proud to say, “Yes!” We have partnered with another Greenville agency which will...

My Name is Gary and I'm Never Going Back

Last night we celebrated the Homes of Hope Graduation of our intern, Gary. Gary was one of the older men in our program and was known to be the “grumpy old man” with a heart of gold. An expert painter, he provided valuable mentorship to many of the other men in the program as they completed various painting projects on our housing. After a year with us, Gary ha...

In their place we welcome Frank, Joe, & Donald. These are three men with different stories, but with at least one thing in common: they've come to Homes of Hope serious about sobriety and eager ...

At the first we get to dress up, eat well, & introduce hundreds of people to our ministry at our yearly fundraising dinner. At the...

At our upcoming Hope House Dinner & Auction there will be lots of action! Included in the evening’s events will be the premiere of our 2011 Homes of Hope Video. We have spent the last two months compiling interviews from people in the Greenville community, as well as from Homes of Hope staff, tenants, and interns to produce a brief, but comprehensive look at our ...

Hope Houses taking over!

The hallways of Homes of Hope are being taken over by miniature houses! It must mean it’s that time again: our Annual Hope House Dinner and Auction is on April 29th! The men in our intern program built these houses and local artists around Greenville have been beautifully decorating them to be auctioned off to benefit our ministry. I glance out my office door and I ...

Who Am I? "I finally know my calling"...

In last week’s blog we shared about the challenging journey our interns experience as they start to shed the old clothes of past habits, mistakes, and mindsets and begin to embrace the new identity and new life that is available in Christ Jesus. We see that our men exist at very different stages in this process. Each is genuinely asking, “Who am I?” Our M...
